Filming a Movie In My House
Okay–so not really in my house. But we’ve got “Filming Notice” signs posted in the elevators, side entrances, and the lobby of my west loop gate building. Early yesterday morning there were RVs, one them of the labeled “Director”, parked out on the south, east, and west streets surrounding the building–along with all the production trucks, etc. No hints on what movie was filming–other than it was supposedly a major feature film–possibly from Universal.
Last night coming back from dinner there was a lot more activity in one of the entrances to our building — mostly people armed with walkie talkies and smiling security guards stopping traffic on Washington. Our unit is a few floors above the entrance and the daylight producing lights punched on sometime after 8pm, fully illuminating our wall of south-facing windows. I scampered out to the porch and leaned over the brick ledge to try to spy actors or a director… no dice–though the guy who runs the Subway in one of the first floor shops was using his store’s proximity to filming as an excuse to bring his junior high school-aged daughter and her friend to check out the filming. A small cluster of people looked on–and it seems they were looking into my building. Again–no clue as to what movie they were filiming. I did see a skinny woman in a hooded sweatshirt hiding herself being escorted from an RV.
The first place I looked to figure out what movie this was? Where else but the Chicago Film Office. Check out the link–not much there. iMDb Pro says there are 8 films either in production or starting production in Chicago. Nothing that seemed right.. none are Universal Movies…
I tried Chicagoist and Gapers Block with no success…
But then, what about this Sun Times article? Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn are back in Chicago doing some final filming… And oh, The Break Up is a Universal Picture. So maybe that skinny woman in a hooded sweatshirt was Aniston?
I’m curious now, as to why they picked my building to film in? Especially the entrance/area they apparently filmed in. I may get suckered into seeing this movie when it’s finally released. I’ll confirm all this with the Subway guy and one our doormen–he seems to be tapped into all the local gossip (Oprah’s guests arrive via limo and the her studio’s garage entrance directly across the street from where he sits).
